The Congregational Church, originally the First Parish Church of Berwick, was built in 1826 at the intersection of Main and Academy Streets, South Berwick. This was the church where Jewett’s family worshipped. As Jewett explains, the congregation until that time had met in meetinghouses in the Old Fields part of town. In 1929, the Congregational Church became the First Parish Federated Church after a merger with the local Methodists.
