Jewett Walking Tour Brochure Reception,
April 20, 2008

About 65 visitors gathered at the Counting House Museum on April 20, 2008 to celebrate the release of the new Sarah Orne Jewett walking tour brochure of downtown South Berwick. Nancy Wetzel read a selection from Sarah Orne Jewett's essay, "Looking back on Girlhood." The brochure was a project of the Jewett Eastman Memorial Committee. Sponsors were Kennebunk Savings Bank, Lassel Architects, Julia's Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation, Historic New England, and the Old Berwick Historical Society.

Monkey Business Bakery made a custom cake, adorned with Sarah Orne Jewett's original monogram.

Visitors explored exhibits at the Counting House Museum.

JEM Committee members Nina Maurer and Margaret Brentano led the walking tour brochure project and wrote the text...AND brewed the tea!
Nina Maurer described South Berwick businesses that operate today from buildings once familiar to Jewett.
