William Allen Tompson (c. 1786-1835) was the sixth preceptor of Berwick Academy 1813-1817. He was son of Rev. John Tompson, (c. 1739-1828), minister of the First Church of Berwick , founder of the academy and president 1803-1825. A William Tompson married Anna Maria Adams of Portsmouth in 1813. In 1817 Tompson was discharged as preceptor because academy closed for lack of funds through 1819.
