1962 Р2012 РThe Old Berwick Historical Society Celebrates 50 Years

2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Old Berwick Historical Society and all year long its members and the community at large are marking the milestone with a series of special events. In May of this year, at the annual meeting of the Society’s members a number of new exhibits were introduced into the Counting House Museum after a concert by singer songwriter Connor Garvey, a local musician currently gaining national recognition on the alternative music scene.

Events still to come include a presentation that will chronicle Maine’s role in the Emanciaption, which will be presented at the Berwick Academy in September, a walking tour of one of South Berwicks oldest cemetries, Old Fields, in October as well as a close look at Maine botanist Kate Furbish’s life. In November the Society will be holding a fundraiser and anniversary celebration in the form of a 1960s themed dance, complete with silent auction, to be held at the American Legion Hall in nearby Rollinsford, New Hampshire.
