The Counting House Park

One of the newer additions to the Town of South Berwick the Counting House Park is a recreational area adjacent to the Counting House Museum that has been created in the area that was once the site of the Quamphegan Landing. The Quamphegan landing was one of the first settled areas in the region and as far back as the 1600s it was a busy transpiration link that brought the community supplies of all kinds from Portsmouth, ME and the world beyond. Before the arrival of the settlers the area was a popular fishing hole for the Native Americans who passed through the area.

Today the park still attracts fishermen as well as canoeists and kayakers who all get to take advantage of the newly built town boat ramp.
